With the right tools and motivation everyone can achieve their dreams! Most presenters provide tools or processes and many times includes motivation through personal stories of success and failure. I go one step further to ensure that my messages ‘sink in’ and are ‘remembered’ by utilizing my bicycle stunts at key parts of my presentation. This will not be your ‘normal’ presentation…and that is a good thing!
Presentation:
Overcoming Obstacles To Achieve Your Dreams
There will always be obstacles in the way to achieving dreams. This presentation starts off with me being candid and sharing what my obstacles were (not understanding how what I was learning connected to the real world, low self-confidence and a fear of failing) and the turning point that came in my life and how that made all the difference and changed my direction in life. Then we mix in an obstacle that I ride over and bring home the point of APEF (analyze, plan, execute, feedback) which is a tool that students can use to overcome any obstacle!
We then discuss what are the common obstacles they will have to overcome in life to be successful. It begins with what is the hottest topic with youth and college grads alike…lack of soft skills or interpersonal skills. Interactive exercises help bring these points home clearly and personally for them. Then we discuss what they can be doing now (middle school and high school) to prepare for success and then finish up with how they can derail their dreams. This is where I bring in true stories during my time in human resources where people ruined their careers due to making bad decisions (drugs, visiting inappropriate websites, lack of integrity).
To pull everything together we discuss how RESULTS=TRUST and we bring a volunteer to the stage where we finish up with some interaction with the bike that the students will never forget!
During my tenure in human resources and hiring over 3,000 people, there is a common thread for what brings success and what brings struggles. This presentation will provide a simple roadmap to middle and high school students on how they can stand out and shine no matter what their dreams are!
